Being overweight or obese is not beneficial – all of us know that. However, do you know just what the risks to your well-being are if you tip the scales more than you should? The average person is aware that heart disease is one of the biggest problems associated with being too flabby. Did you know that many other health hazards are also possible if you are obese? If you need to shed that flab, it is essential that you follow a good diet plan to regain health.
Obesity puts you in danger of some kinds of cancers and you should therefore plan to lose weight to make sure of good health. Obese women are high on the scale of increased danger of developing cancer of the breast.
Sadly, these particular women with a BMI of 26.7 or higher are more prone to the most dangerous type of breast cancer (Inflammatory Breast Cancer or IBC). Women with a lower BMI are much less at risk. Not surprisingly, this heightened cancer risk holds true for men too. Obese men are more prone to suffering from cancer than men with optimum body weight. Dieting to stay within an advantageous weight range and be healthy is common sense for both men and women.
Some other kinds of cancers exist which apparently are more liable to strike obese people than thin ones. Amongst them are Cancer of the Esophagus, Endometrial Cancer and Cancer of the Gastric Cardia. No one in his or her right mind would want to suffer from cancer, such a vicious and dangerous disease. Obviously, it makes sense that those who are obese should follow a diet plan in order to regain health and decrease the chances of developing diseases like cancer.
Another disease that overweight persons are more prone to is arthritis. The chances of getting Osteoarthritis (OA) and Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) both increase as people gain in weight. If however, there is a change in lifestyle and diet causing the patient to lose even 10 or 15 pounds, the indications of OA can be mitigated greatly and the progress of the disease can be slowed down.
The above are not the only diseases which attack obese people more than people with optimal weight. The other disorders and problems include: depression, gall bladder disease, hypertension, carpel tunnel syndrome, pain of the lower back, disease of the liver, type 2 diabetes, infertility problems, heat disorders and birth defects,.
There is no one who wants to be unhealthy. Good health and wellbeing is something all desire and one must therefore eat correctly in order to maintain good health. Regrettably, most people do not understand and appreciate the likelihood of the many disorders that may happen with every increase in the obesity scale. Perhaps if they did understand the consequences, they would take better care of themselves and be more encouraged to diet for good health. That way they could ensure their well-being not only for now but for the future too.
